About Me

  • Lived locally since 1978 and have lived in the Belper East Ward in Cabot Close, since 1993
  • Early retired manager - administrator/accountant/systems analyst
  • Married to Carole for 45 years with two grown up daughters and four grandchildren
  • Served on the Borough Council’s Cabinet from May 2005 until May 2008
  • Currently vice chairman on the Council’s Planning board and have in the past served on the Licensing Board and represented the East Ward on Belper Town Council.
I intend to make my voice heard for the benefit of my constituents and my party. I have heard too much negativism since becoming involved in politics and have found that some people involved in community welfare have more than one agenda! I have tried since I have been elected to always state the truth as I see it and I shall continue to do so however unpopular or radical that may be.

I have assisted with problems at Latham's on Over Lane, I had high security fencing placed in Whitemoor Park and a new pavement running from east to west, I had a new flashing traffic warning sign placed on Kilbourne Road and also supported the campaign for traffic calming measures on Kilbourne Road and Whitemoor Lane.

I have also been involved in getting the proposed link road from the Cinderhill site onto Kilbourne Road removed from the plan altogether and have pressed for improvements in such areas as Hunter Road and the Hawthorns.

I organised and ran the Larks in the Parks concert series for Belper Town Council and since then I have formed “The Friends of Belper River Gardens" of which I am the current Chairman. The group wants to obtain grant funding to refurbish the gardens as well as continue to run the varied events that take place in the River Gardens every summer.

These are just some examples of my local work. If you wish to have a hard working Councillor who believes in and cares for Belper East then please give me your vote.
